With a new caption head, our percussion caption is expected to have an exciting future this coming season. We are excited to introduce the returning team with you today.
Henry Gillard expands his role with us as the new caption head for his fourth year. Since 2012, he has instructed and written for several ensembles in the greater Southern California area. Henry has had extensive performing experience in elite marching percussion ensembles such as the 5 time WGI World Champion RCC Indoor Percussion (2012-2016) and 18 time DCI World Champion Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps (2012-2014). Henry is currently instructing highly esteemed scholastic ensembles such as Fountain Valley HS, Granada Hills Charter HS, Aliso Niguel HS and is the Battery Caption Head at Dark Sky Percussion.
Luke DeDominces returns now as the Front Ensemble Caption Manager. Currently residing in Eugene, Oregon, Luke teaches percussion and arranges at many of the high school programs across the Willamette Valley and western Washington, as well as the University of Oregon marching band. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in percussion performance in 2014 from Pacific Lutheran University under the instruction of Miho Takekawa, he is currently working on his Maters in Percussion Performance at the University of Oregon. He also plays with several local ensembles including the Salem Symphony and the Vancouver Symphony.
Shealley Lee returns as a Front Ensemble Instructor. is a percussion educator based out of the Northern California residing in Sacramento, CA. She is currently the Percussion Director and arranger at Fairfield High School, Percussion Director and arranger at Elk Grove High School, and American Canyon High School. 2018 will be her 2nd year as heading the Front Ensemble Caption at NCIndoor. A founding staff member of the 2017 WGI PIO ensemble, NorCal Indoor making finals in their inaugural season. She is also a clinician for the Sacramento Mandarins Academy.
Jack Pronske returns for his second season as a Front Ensemble Instructor. He received his degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas, and is currently based out of the North Texas area, where he is a middle school percussion director and percussion technician for the Prosper Independent School District.
Charles Carty is returning for his fifth season as a Battery Instructor. From 2012-2014, he was a member of the Music City Mystique Cymbal Line, serving as the section leader for his age out in 2014. He has been the cymbal instructor for MCM since 2015. Charles also marched for the Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps in 2011 as well as Spirit of Atlanta from 2012-2013.
Also returning as a Battery Instructor, Tarrin Neal is continuing into his fifth year teaching with the Oregon Crusaders. He has an extensive history with the organization, marching with the drum corps from 2011-2013, and Oregon Crusaders Indoor from 2009-2015. Tarrin is also teaching with the indoor percussion ensemble as well as Liberty and Southridge High Schools.
Chris Drummer also joins us as a Battery Instructor. he pursued a professional career with the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corp. He spent his first year marching the B Corp (2010) winning Open Class Championships and Best Percussion Performance. He spent 3 more years with the A Corp (2011-2013). Chris was also a member of Riverside Community College(2012, 2014) and Pulse Percussion (2013). Since aging out, he has been a member of the instruction staff of RCC.
Austin Avery is going into his fifth year as the Battery Visual Tech and Choreographer with OC. He resides in Norwalk, CT where he’s teaching and choreographing groups in the tri state area. Right now he is at Trumbull High School and Westhill High School. Other groups he has worked for is Norwalk High School, Hawthorne Caballeros, Connecticut Hurricanes, Fusion Core, Dartmouth High School, and OCI. He also has 5 scholastic open class WGI medals from teaching at Trumbull and Norwalk.
